A Day in Cave Creek, Arizona

Don't you love these walls?  In a most unusual store.

Gorgeous old painted wooden furniture and  religious icons. I could have  stayed there for hours, but the boys were ready to go.
This weekend,
Guy and I went to Phoenix to visit  Eric, our son, and his girlfriend Cat.
I wanted to take this gas pump home.
While Cat was working, Eric, took us to Cave Creek.  It's a little western town, with lots of fun stores and restaurants amid the cacti.   We ate breakfast at Big Earl's Greasy Eats. The  country fried steak and eggs is the best I've ever had.
Then we went to "The Town Dump"! A most unusual store, with antique wooden furniture,  fanciful iron sculptures, jewelry, ceramic, and  just plain fun stuff. I bought a wooden angel made from old chair rails  and legs. It was a  lovely weekend. The weather was beautiful, the company divine, and  food delish! Thanks Eric and  Cat.

Eric and  his daddy!

Fun, Fun, fun!!!

Every where you turned, here was something unique.
These crows were 3 dimensional.

Look how cue this tractor is,  can you see that the seat is a typewriter?

Old Wedding photos.

look at that corsage!
He's serious, she's  happy.
She's pooped! He made her dance every single  dance.

I like this couple. They look like they are really fun!

Bridemaids

When did the custom of no corsages start. All of these brides have them.

They looked  exhausted.

here's the happy, fun couple, again!

look at that hair style.

I love the  painted background and the 3-d set.

bride and maid of honor?
I love the flowers  surrounding her head and shoulders.

another back of a photo
I bought an album of early 20th century wedding photos. I don't know if  these  couples were related, or someone just  combined  them.  I am going to make wedding gift cards out of them. I'm going to play around with tepia toning them, maybe change colors altogether.  I can't wait to start!

1817 American Tea Table

Notice the drop leaf.  Lift up the leaf and slide the bar forward.
This tea table  was made in the early 1800's and passed down through 4 generations of  a Southern  family, named Kirk. The last Kirk owned it in the 1950's

I love silver. I always  have  it to sell.

This is a brass plaque on the front  top of the table.  Between the two dates was a relative in Virginia, in the  civil war,  who served tea (on this table) to Union soldiers, while her farm hands hid her  horses the forest.

birds and iron

It's nice to know people still buy and send notes.
I bough this cute corner shelf unit, and when I  didn't have anything to put  in it, Maria found these bird notecards. I love the colors together.

Chippy painted stuff still sells.

ok, new stuff in the booth.

It took about 6 hours to put my booth together, after selling (yeah!) that  Army trailer. So, here's some new stuff.

I scraped off an ugly yellow paint to reveal all of the beautiful old colors on this stool.
Mr. Frog is painted cement

Old suitcases are always popular. I just brought in an old
leather one  with all of it's straps, and an old wicker one, pretty beaten up but cheap.

2 green iron chairs, 2 white ones and a distressed table.

I love this small 40's ceramic lamp. It's actually lime green.

That Time of Year Again

Woohoo,  plum jelly for everyone!

Raspberries to be

the only avocado on an eight  foot tree.

Tangellos.  They've never  tasted good. Always bitter. Never soft. I  have no idea how to fix
 that problem.

Finally, this little Meyer lemon tree is maturing and giving more fruit. Can't wait to
 taste them!
I love living in California, land of fruit trees. I always wanted to own some. To be able to pick the  fruit whenever I wanted, was always a treat for me.   When we were teens, my best friend, would take walks around town, and steal lemons from overhanging branches. We'd peel the lemons and eat them  on our walk. We'd never  go into a yard, but were happy to take when  hanging over the fence.

"Hoboken"

She is too big  as a lap dog, but she still tries.

Probably  tired of hearing us  gossip.

She is really a thoughtful dog. Her expressions are  a direct result of what you say to her. She cocks her head a lot. Very cute.

We love you Hobo!
My friend, Bern,  loves dogs. Since  I've known her (about 30 years), she's had 7-8) plus many other animals. Last year, her favorite dog, a pit bull, passed away. Bern was devastated. So She got Hobo.  It looks like another love affair.

Happy Mother's Day

From our garden to you, happy Mom's day. We hope each and every mom has a wonderful day with her family.

A good day digging.

5 or 6 old baskets with zinc inserts, Jesus and Mary  prints  in crumbling frames, old bottles

2 silhouettes from 1933. And a  fabulous double  house blessing  in a  paper frame

two old suitcases. One  kind of a straw fabric and one old leather with all of the straps.
