We did it...50 jars

My beautiful Guy helped me make all these jars of plum jam.  I've already had toast and jam twice.  Last night for dinner, and this morning for breakfast.

Not a great pic, but had to show you the label. I originally took the squirrel picture
and plum one in my yard,
and Guy made the label. Not retail worthy, but   no one seems to care.

An Ode To My Husband and Plums

I've been moving around most of my 60 year  life. I was born in the SF Bay area, and for my first 5 years, we moved  around in it  4 times.  My dad was a traveling salesman and every couple of years he got a new territory. Oklahoma was the furthest from California, we moved to.(pardon the bad grammar),  then settled in So.Ca.

BFF's came late in life. I met my first real best friend  a little before high school. we're still best friends.

While I was a young woman, I moved all around So. Cal. I lived in 12 different places and changed my lifestyle, like I changed my pantyhose.  I picked up another BFF in my 30's.  Again, we are still bests, so now that makes 3, including my husband, Now my bests have  husbands, and they are our bests, too.

The reason for this tale? I was out picking plums and realized I'd been picking them for 10 years. 10 years. I've been married to my second husband  for 10 years. I've been the happiest I've ever been  for the last 11 years since I met him. My friends love him, my mom lives him, I love him. He bought this house before we knew each other, and somehow. picked  the best spot in the world for us.

Back to the plums. Last year, was a record plum picking season. I put up 36 jars of preserves. I gave away most to family and friends. I'm on my last jar, so timing is perfect.

So, today, I've picked plums, and  later will make some preserves.  I will give out too many jars to too many friends and family, and hold onto 1 jar for next spring. That is, if my 60 year old back will let me.
Today was trash day.
The  trash guys were so surprised when they got bags of plums.

Last year I made almost 40 jars of preserves.
I gave away so many and have 1 little jar left for myself. This years crop  came just in time!
Have a great Monday!!!

new finds

This valise is made of paper.
I had a good week finding  things.  I couldn't wait to get home  to look at everything.

I love hats with flowers., especially ones with pearls!

Look at these decals. They are from the 40's

I adore this . It's  a domestic fowl's cage. I  like the  colors on the watering can too.

Even though it's ripped, I bought  this umbrella,  because of the handle.
These shoes have lucite heels.

It's Flag Time

Lighted globe light, 30's baskets, great leather suitcases with original 40's decals.

1940's rubber pineapple ice bucket with glass liner, and  40's carved tiki, on a cute painted, to match the table, 3 shelf metal  stand.

lot's of different sized flag with 48 and 50 stars.

The cutest silk striped hat and tie set from Western Costume.

vintage  poker items on a wonderful painted vintage table and chairs.

This stand is actually a high chair like a tennis ref's. really great as a plant stand.
Guy helped me  redo the small booth, for summer. I've been collecting flags for 3 months.

Glass o' milk

Just a quick post. This morning, Guy and I were, out, having breakfast. I wanted nonfat milk, but they only had 2 percent, so I asked for it with ice. I love it cold and it weakens the strength. I have high cholesterol and now drink Silk, but I still crave good ol' fat. Anyway, I poured the milk into the  glass of ice and got this food styler's perfect bubble effect. Anyone here work for the dairy industry?

Not just for watering anymore!

Guy saw this idea for a birdhouse in "Birds and Blooms" magazine.  This  watering can is perfect. It's large, and roomy and waterproof. What could be better?  Plus the handle acts as  perch. I think larger birds would like it because, you don't see too many large mouthed openings. Also,  it should be kept in a shady area, because the sun might warm it up too much.
It seems like we are always buying watering cans. They are all over our yard, in many sizes and shapes.
This one was resting  on the ground near these barrel bands.  We have tons of  open bird feeders and some of the seeds dropped into this  can. Nature took it's course and voila... green.

Father and Son

We were in Az. last weekend
I'm so happy to have spent time with these two wonderful men. My son,Eric and his dad, my hubby, Guy.They are 2 peas in a pod. It's too bad we live so far away.  Eric and Guy used to play local coffee houses together. They both sing, and as you can see, play guitar.  Eric's girlfriend, Cat, and I laughed the whole weekend.  Nutballs, the both of them. Guy said it was the best "before Father's Day" Father's Day he's had.  We love you Eric, and Cat!

Look what we found!

On our way to Az.. we stopped at a rest stop and found this double  mattress spring by the side of the road. I'm going  to do something really fun with it. I'll post  later.
dragging our find  to the van

really cool, huh?

And it fit nicely in the back of our van.

Then I saw this dragonfly on the barbed wire.

Adele's Roses

Adele is a dealer at Agoura. She has the most beautiful rose garden I've ever seen. Every kind of rose imaginable, and she brings these gorgeous blooms into the mart so we might see and smell their brilliance.Thank you, Adele!

Baby doll

I bought a cloche filled with baby doll parts. It looked too gruesome, so, I put most of the parts in a basket, but just had to display this little item.
