Now, for some more of Huntington.... The hits just keep on comin'

This gallery holds so many things that I love.
Gainsborough's Pinkie and Blue Boy are hung here.
There's a fabric panel and upholstered chair designed by William Morris (one of the father's of the  Arts and Crafts era).  Wedgewood blue, etc.
The chandelier ,in the main hall, shines brighter than I've ever seen. It does not translate in these photos. As you can see, everything  has  gorgeous detail.
Gold leaf abounds

Petit point chairs were in each room.

Huntington Library, Pasadena, Ca.

Yesterday, Guy and  I went to the Huntington Library and Gardens. They have acres of different landscapes, and galleries with art, collectibles, and furniture from the 1500's to the present.
It took us 4 hours to see the desert gardens, the conservatory (hot house), and the main art gallery.
One day isn't enough to appreciate everything this park has to offer. These first  photos were taken in the hot house.  The second set, obviously in the Desert garden. The Huntington is open 7 days a week.
These looked fake

They looked like rubber flowers

I love these pure white blooms.

Look at these lilies. Unbelievable!

I  love this color.

I think these were from the orchid family.
the beginning of the desert landscape
We spent 4 hours there and  saw the gallery, the desert landscape, and the conservatory (hot house).

What a  surprise to come upon the flower in the middle of this cactus
Everything was in bloom.

The sun behind these succulent  leaves  made them glow like  a flame.

Can you believe a cactus  can grow as high as a palm tree?

Some of these sights were positively prehistoric.

If you look closely, you can see a bee. I didn't know that
bees loved cactus flowers. They were all over them.

IS This Precious...Or What?

I thought  this was perfect seeing Henry in his pouch while
Mary hangs a pastel look a like.
Mary's dog, Henry, goes with her everywhere. She feels guilty about leaving him home, when she's not working. He just sits, happily,  in his sling, while she works around the booth, or shops at flea markets, etc. He never yelps, never barks at people, is just happy sitting with mommy. He is a love.

I love mirror shots.

My Friend Sue Saved The day!

Maria and I were thinking of doing a nautical window, but we didn't have a boat.
I'm coming home from  the swap meet, past  my friend Sue's house. She was outside, so I stopped.  She had some things for me to see, so we went out to the backyard and lo and behold,
shivver me timbers, there was the boat!

Here it is....The Nautical Window!

That's a real salmon in her  arms
There's the pelican I painted.
The sailor suit is from a foreign navy
Can you see the crab peeking out behind the wheel?
